Get book smart.
The Southworth Library will host its annual Used Book Sale on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 732 Dartmouth Street. Proceeds from the book sale support community programming sponsored by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries. For more information, visit dplma.org.
Friday, October 21
Get spooked.
The Dartmouth YMCA is hosting its annual Haunted Barn and Hayride on Friday and Saturday from 6-9 p.m. at 276 Gulf Road. Attractions include a spooky trail through the woods, hayride, and pumpkin decorating. Admission is $5 per child and $8 per adult, or $20 for a family of four. All proceeds from this event benefit the YMCA Annual Campaign. For more information, visit ymcasouthcoast.org.

The Dartmouth High football team takes to the field for the annual homecoming football game at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in a matchup against league rival Barnstable. Halftime will feature a special recognition of this year’s homecoming king and queen, depending on the weather.
Saturday, October 22
Explore a fire station.
Fire District No. 3 invites the public to stop by the 140 Cross Road station for an open house, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The event includes a fire truck bouncy house, the opportunity to spray a fire hose and climb a fire truck, and a meet-and-greet with Sparky the fire dog and district firefighters. A cooking fire demo starts at 11 a.m.; jaws of life at 11:45 a.m.; and lunch from Papa Ginos at 12:15 p.m.

Smith Neck Friends Meeting members will be cooking up a meat pie supper at 6 p.m. at 594 Smith Neck Road. The supper will include candied carrots, mashed potatoes, gravy, and homemade desserts. Discover your community.
The Dartmouth Special Education Parent Advisory Council will host its annual Community Resource and Craft Fair 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Dartmouth High School. A number of community resources will be on hand, including youth sports organizations, schools and educational groups, mental health organizations, and more. Holiday gift items will also be for sale, and interactive program demonstrations and raffle drawings will be held.
