Friday, September 9

Visit the Grange.

The Dartmouth Grange will host its annual, two-day Rural Community Fair, providing family-friendly entertainment, games, animals, and more at Patrons Hall at 1133 Fisher Road. Entertainment and admission is free. Friday's festivities run 4-9 p.m.; Saturday, 12-9 p.m. For more information, email info@dartmouthgrange.org.

Saturday, September 10

Discover nature.

The Lloyd Center for the Environment will be hosting Nature Discoveries—an hour-long adventure appropriate for children ages 2-6. The program invites guests to read nature-themed books, explore specimens and animal demonstrations, hike, and enjoy crafts. Participants will meet at the Lloyd Center’s Visitor Center, located at 430 Potomska Road, for the 9:30 a.m. program. Strengthen muscles.

Southcoast Health will host a free women’s health physical therapy workshop from 10 a.m. to noon at the Center for Women’s Health, located at 300B Faunce Corner Road. “The Kegel Connection: A workshop to learn how to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles” will include a review of anatomy and exercise techniques for strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and the lower abdominals. Call (508) 973-9446 to register. Loose fitting, comfortable clothes are recommended to those who attend.

Tour history.

Stop by Allen’s Mill between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm for a tour of the historic mill led by the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust. Allen’s Mill is located on the north side of Slade’s Corner Road, between 107 and 111 Slades Corner Road, approximately 4/10ths of a mile from Russells Mills Village.

Sunday, September 11

Go in peace.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church is inviting the community to the dedication of the new community-wide Peace Garden and Peace Pole. The event will begin with a service of Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. at the church (351 Elm Street; all denominations are welcome) and the outdoor dedication ceremony will follow. The Peace Garden, facing Elm Street on St. Peter's property, is open to anyone in the community who would like to stop by to meditate and reflect.

Hit up the last summer clambake.

Fire District No. 2 will host its annual engine company clambake. Tickets are $40 each, and can be bought at the District No. 2 station located at 1100 Russells Mills Road. The meal will be served at 1 p.m. at the firehouse. Guests can also buy a $50 ticket for raffle prizes, including a $5,000 vacation voucher, a $500 Visa gift card, and a $100 Visa gift card. Proceeds benefit the Russells Mills Engine Company.
