Abel A. Gaspar, 92

Abel A. Gaspar, 92, of Dartmouth, passed away on July 26 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Agnes (Barboza) Gaspar; they had been married for 70 years.

Born in Dartmouth, the son of the late Arnold and Rose (dePonte) Gaspar, he lived in Dartmouth for most of his life. He was formerly employed as the manager of National Silver Company until his retirement.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife Agnes; his son Stephen Gaspar and his wife Kathy of Dartmouth; his sister Mary Severino of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Jenn Gaspar, Jessica Gaspar, Tim Gaspar, and Sara Gaspar Pereira; and seven great-grandchildren, Erin Varnum, Jordan, Nicholas, and Lillian Gaspar, Bennett, Landon, and Kennedy Pereira.

He was the brother of the late Theresa and Donald Gaspar.

His memorial mass will be celebrated on August 1 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, South Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted.
