Albertina “Tina” Ann Teixeira, 84, died on Saturday November 27, 2016 at Forest View Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Richard S. Teixeira and daughter of the late Clara (Sylvia) and John Avila Sr. She was born in Dartmouth, and lived in the South Coast area all her life.

Albertina worked at St. Lukes Hospital until her retirement. She graduated from both Dartmouth High School and Bristol Community College. Tina also attended Bridgewater State University and was a long time Baseball Coach for Dartmouth Youth Athletic Association. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time teaching the children of Dartmouth to play baseball.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra J. Teixeira and her spouse Paula Leconte of Rochester; grandchildren: Melissa and Kevin Teixeira, and the late Richard Teixeira; three great grandchildren: Nathan and Jocelyn Teixeira, and Dennis Racine; two great great-grandchildren: Owen Edge and Alexis Teixeira; brother, Gilbert Avila; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Bruce V. Teixeira, and sister of the late Joseph, John Jr., Frank, Manuel, and Edmund Avila, Baby Lena Avila, Lena Almy, and Mildred Mello.

Teixeira’s funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford, on Friday, December 2 at 8:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Church in Padanaram at 10 a.m. Her visiting hours will be December 1, 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Albertina’s burial will be private.
