Alice C. Walsh, 88, of South Dartmouth passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion, MA after a brief period of declining health.

Alice was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late James J. and Agnes B. (McGrath) Walsh. She lived in New Bedford most of her life until moving to South Dartmouth. She was a graduate of Holy Family Grammar and High School and a communicant of St Lawrence Martyr Church. She worked a long and full career at New Bedford Gas and Edison until her retirement.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the beach, dining in or out with family and friends, going to the movies and an occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include two sisters, Joan M. Vlcek of New Bedford and Margaret M. Bancroft of Mattapoisett; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and their families in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Virginia and Wisconsin.

She was the sister of the late Elizabeth Vera and Catherine W. Perkins of Fairhaven.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation for the great care and support from all of the nurses and staff at both Sippican Healthcare Center and Fidelis Hospice.

A graveside service took place on Wednesday, April 8 at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Bedford.

Given the current situation, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date once churches are reopened for public gatherings.
