Alumni association celebrates class of 1967, scholarship winners

The Dartmouth High School Alumni Association held its 110th annual banquet on May 28 at Rachel's Lakeside. The Dartmouth High Class of 1967 — observing its 50-year reunion — was honored alongside the graduating scholarship recipients.

Alumni presdient Enid Silva presented the awards from funds entrusted to the association either through endowment, memorial funds, or bequeathed from alumni.

  • The Celeste (Pinheiro) Andrews (Class of 1948) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Rachel Shovmer, who will attend the University of Maryland.
  • The Mary Pinheiro (Class of '41) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Allison Silvia, who will attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
  • The Janet (Carlson) Gill and Robert Gill (classes of '74 and '48) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Colin McCabe, who will attend the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
  • The Ernest Frias (class of 1946) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Jack Helgesen, who will attend the University of Tampa.
  • The Mary Frias Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Kayla Amaral, who will attend the University of New Hampshire.
  • The Class of 1946 Scholarship was awarded to Mariah Baker, who will attend Bristol Community College.
  • The Warren Barclay (class of 1970) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Thomas Vieira, who will attend the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
  • The Bonneau-Alumni Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Noah Anthony, who will attend Bristol Community College.

The following awards honor the memories and selfless dedication of alumni association members, past and present, with scholarships in their names with funds raised through the associations monthly fundraising dinners.

  • The Thelma (Wordell) McHugh (Class of '25) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Sarah DeMello, who will attend Iona College.
  • The Lillian Amaral (Class of '43) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Connor Guilbeault, who will attend Fitchburg State University.
  • The Doris (Davies) Davenport (Class of '40) Honorary Scholarship was awarded to Nicole Borges, who will attend Northeastern University.
  • The Natalie (Rodil) Miranda (Class of '46) Honorary Scholarship was awarded to Victoria Costa, who will attend Providence College.
  • The Grace (Gifford) Brook (Class of '54) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Cali Faith Andrade, who will attend the University of New Hampshire.

The winners of the two-night stay at Commodore Inn in Stowe, Vermont are Bob and Marcia Murphy (Class of 1954). The mini-vacation was donated by owner Bruce Nourjian (Class of '59).

Proceeds from the dinner benefit the DHS Alumni Scholarship Fund.
