Alumni Association dinner raises funds for student scholarships
The Dartmouth High Alumni Association hosted its monthly dinner on December 3, attracting approximately 70 guests.
"We had a festive gathering for our December supper," said association President Enid Silva.
For a $10 ticket, guests dined on baked stuffed chicken breast, potato, vegetables, homemade desserts, and beverages. They also tried their luck for raffle prizes, including butternut squash from the YMCA farm, apple pies, candles, and pot holders.
The Alumni Association puts all monies raised at the events toward scholarships for graduating seniors, said Silva. Members also organize scholarships in memory or in honor of town residents and graduates, said Silva.
Last year, the association was able to give 15 scholarships. Students are part of the efforts, too.
"We have high school kids that come to each dinner and they set the tables, wash dishes, mash potatoes, and serve," noted association member Eleanor White.
