Anne E. (Govoni) Borges, 88, of Dartmouth passed away April 6, 2020 in her residence. She was the loving wife of the late Humberto “Herb” Borges.

Born in Fairhaven, a daughter of the late Carl J. and Rose E. (McDermott) Govoni she spent her youth in Fairhaven and graduated from Fairhaven High School in 1948. She was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Dartmouth.

Mrs. Borges resided in Fairhaven, Middleboro, and New Bedford. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Daughters of Isabella-Hyacinth Circle 71, and the Children of Mary Society.

Ann worked as a credit manager for Cornish Insurance from 1964 to 1980. She also was a bookkeeper for Days Electric in Fairhaven for seven years.

She is survived by one son, Carl A. Avila and his wife Tempie M. of Wildwood, MO; four grandchildren, Anthony E. and Daniel C. Avila of Wildwood, MO and Jessica A Avila of Bainbridge Island, WA. and Joseph H. Avila of Cle Elum, WA; three sisters, Mary T. Brito of Dartmouth, Arlene R. Sullivan of Mattapoisett, and Phyllis C. Goulet of Fairhaven. She was the mother of the late James A. Avila.
