Antone S. "Tony" Borges, 68, of North Dartmouth, passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2018, surrounded by his family at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.

He was the husband of Rosemary A. (Mello) Borges. They had been married for 34 years.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Antone B. and Amelia (Carreiro) Borges, he grew up in Mattapoisett and lived in Fairhaven prior to settling in North Dartmouth 11 years ago.

Tony was a heavy equipment operator and member of Local #4 International Operating Engineers. He was also the owner/operator of A. Borges Backhoe Service for over 40 years. Tony enjoyed his work and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Shawn S. Borges and his wife Brenda of Westport and Stephen P. Lucas and his wife Sara of Mattapoisett; two daughters, Rebecca S. Borges of Chicago, IL and Charyl A. Borges of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Ross Borges, Meagan, Lyndsey and Maddie Lucas; a brother, Allen Borges and his wife Ellen of Marion; a sister, Cathy Reusch of Mattapoisett; and several nieces and nephews.

Borges was the brother of the late Michael and Brian Borges.

Cremation followed calling hours on January 13.
