Antonette J. (Nunes) Jones, 69, of Dartmouth passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 after a brief illness. She was the wife of George E. Jones, Jr.

Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Antone and Lillian (Lewis) Nunes, she lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.

Mrs. Jones was formerly employed as a corrections officer for the Bristol County Sheriff's Department Juvenile Division until her retirement.

She enjoyed gardening, going to the casinos, and making dried flower arrangements. She was a good hearted person, who was very family oriented and loved by all.

Survivors include her husband George; her children Kelly J. Jones and her companion Carlos Raposo, and Brian S. Jones; her siblings, William Nunes and his wife Margaret, and Pauline Brightman; five grandchildren, Joshua S. Jones, Jessica Burgos, Aaliyah Raposo, Alexander Jones, and Patrick Jones; a great-granddaughter, Amiyah Pizarro; a soon-to-be-born great-grandson, Hector Pizarro, Jr.; goddaughter, Janice Harding; sister-in-law, Phyllis Cormier; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was the mother of the late George E. Jones, III, grandmother of the late Jareana Raposo, and sister of the late Patricia Drumheiser and Suzanne McGowan.

Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 13 at 10 a.m. at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
