Apply for a ‘changemaker grant’

Jan 23, 2023

Do you have an idea for a project that will improve your neighborhood, school or community?

The United Way of Greater New Bedford is seeking applications for its Changemaker Grants, which aim to empower residents to submit innovative, community projects that will bring people together while creating a positive impact in the area.

Volunteer groups in Greater New Bedford (Acushnet, Dartmouth, Fairhaven, Freetown, New Bedford, Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester, or Wareham) can apply for up to $2,500 to complete projects that are engaging, community driven, solutions-focused, and foster unity through community action.

One of last year’s grants helped the Dartmouth Mom’s Group purchase basic needs items for mothers and their children facing difficult times. In addition, the group bought storage containers to create a “closet” to keep those items and other donated goods at the Carriage House at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Padanaram Village.

Those interested in learning more about the grants are encouraged to attend virtual information sessions on Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. and Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m.Grant applications will be accepted through March 10.
