Bishop Stang announced March that the school has hired former Dartmouth High lacrosse coach Alison Caito-Galligan to lead the Spartans girls lacrosse program.

Caito-Galligan will take over the position from Lauren Pratt, who was head coach for the past six years.

“We are thrilled to have Alison lead us this Spring and moving forward in our Girls Lacrosse Program,” Athletic Director Dennis Golden said. “The game of lacrosse is important to her, but most importantly, she uses coaching as a vehicle to positively affect the lives of young people.”

Caito-Galligan , a former Boston University Field Hockey All-American and Hall of Fame Athlete, coached Dartmouth High’s field hockey team between 2003 and 2008 and the lacrosse team from 2001 to 2008.

She is also the current guidance counselor at Dartmouth Middle School.

The new Spartan coach said she was excited to carry on Pratt’s work of building the program.

“We will compete on and off the field,” Caito-Galligan said. “We are looking to develop core values in young people. We want to handle all game situations with grace and with respect, regardless of outcome.”

She added that she also hopes to coach the team beyond having a good record.

“As a counselor and educator, I feel I have the tools to help build character, nurture their faith, and inspire the desire to make a difference,” she said. “I truly have a passion for the game , but more importantly, I have a passion to support the mission of Bishop Stang High School.”
