Bishop Stang softball star commits to Catholic University of America

Bishop Stang senior Olivia Brousseau will continue her softball career at Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., a NCAA Division III school, the school announced Friday.

In accepting the offer, Brousseau cited the university’s campus and academic programs, and a level of comfort with its coaching staff, as major draws.

“It is in the city, and it feels good being on campus,” she said. “All the people have been nice, and they have all been helpful. The coaches definitely put academics first.”

Brousseau joined the Stang softball team as a sophomore after her freshman season was canceled due to Covid.

With her final season as a Spartan quickly approaching, she said she is looking forward to a fun and successful year that will prepare her for the future.

Brousseau plans to study accounting or finance at Catholic University of America, a major she hopes will prepare her for a career after softball.

Brousseau thanked her family, her Bishop Stang coaches, her club team coach, and the people she trains with at B Select Training facility in New Bedford for helping her reach this important moment in her athletic and academic career.
