The Bucket will go mobile this summer

May 13, 2025

As tradition goes, The Bucket at Apponagansett Beach will make its summer debut Memorial Day Weekend, but this year, it's got some company.

The Parks and Recreation Department is launching its first ever mobile concession stand, which will be stationed at Round Hill Beach starting June 14.

The trailer, which is equipped with a full-mobile kitchen, will serve the community's Bucket favorites, including burgers, hot dogs, chicken, fries and pre-packaged ice cream.

Recreation Coordinator Becky Amaral said although the ice cream shop is typically contracted out through a bid every three years, given its success, the department has decided to keep operations in-house and is now expanding it to Round Hill Beach.

For about 30 years, it was operated by the same food vendor, Arthur Domingos, who the public had grown used to, according to Amaral.

When he retired, another vendor took over but was unsatisfied with the hours, wanting more time in the summer, she said. Additionally, the Bucket’s last vendor didn’t serve the fried foods that many customers saw as business staples.

Now, the department looks to see how this new offshoot of The Bucket will go.

“I think the public will be very happy with it,” Amaral said.

The mobile stand will operate daily from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. unless there is inclement weather. She added the hours may be adjusted based on interest.

“I’m excited to introduce something new down at Round Hill for our patrons,” she said.
