Buttonwood Brook sees new cleanup effort

The Town of Dartmouth, City of New Bedford and Buzzards Bay Coalition are collaborating to use state and federal funds to install green infrastructure at Buttonwood Brook and Pond, the City of New Bedford announced.
More than $2 million in state and federal funds will be spent on the project, which aims to better manage stormwater to reduce pollution in the Buttonwood Brook ecosystem.
Buttonwood to Bay Project Manager Daniel Goulart presented to the Select Board on the issue earlier this spring. He said that development and climate change have created flooding and pollution problems in the brook.
Funding sources for the project include a grants from the EPA, state programs and ARPA funds.
