Cash Raffle to help injured firefighter

Oct 12, 2018

Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 is raising money for a long-time member of the department.

Lt. Antone Dias, who has been with the department for 12 years, was severely injured in a motor vehicle crash while on his way to the station to work on a report. Lt. Dias was transported to the Intensive Care Unit at Rhode Island Hospital where he received several surgeries.

He remained in the hospital for nearly a month, and was discharged to begin a significant rehabilitation program.

In addition to his service to the fire department, Lt. Dias served for four years as a member of the United States Army reserve and is a member of the Paskamansett Engine Company.

Fire District No. 3 is raising money to help Lt. Dias with his medical bills and lost wages by selling tickets to a $10,000 cash raffle. Tickets cost $100 each. For tickets, contact Firefighter Devin Madeira by calling (508) 525-7034 or any other District No. 3 firefighter. Tickets are also available at the district’s headquarters at 140 Cross Rd. or by calling (508) 994-6761.

The winning ticket will be drawn on Wednesday, October 24 at 7 p.m. at the Rose Alley Ale House at 94 Front St. in New Bedford. 10% of the profits from that night will be donated.
