Cheryl Phillips, 75

Cheryl (Richardson) Phillips, 75, of South Dartmouth passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2019 with her family at her side in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Richard “Dick” Phillips with whom she shared 57 years of marriage.

Born in Dade City, FL, a daughter of the late Patrick Richardson and his late wife Sue and the late Mary McCalister she grew up there and lived in Dartmouth for most of her life.

Mrs. Phillips worked at UMass at Dartmouth in the History Department as a secretary for many years. She most recently worked part time as a receptionist for Waring-Sullivan and Rock Funeral Homes. In her spare time, Cheryl was gifted at gardening and she was unwavering in her devotion to her family. Her personality and warm smile comforted everyone who met her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Steve Phillips of Dartmouth, Lisa Erickson and her husband Donald of AZ, Richard “Rick” Phillips and his wife Maria of Dartmouth, and William Phillips and his wife Jodi of Dartmouth; a brother, Tracy Richardson and his wife Jennifer of Lafayette, LA, three sisters, Lila Wiese and her husband Mark of Cleveland, GA, Laura Masi and husband Chris of New Castle, PA and Patty Lou Richardson of Gainesville, FL; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; cousins Kathy and Ralph Massy of Axson, GA and Paula Jane “PJ” Anderson of Kennesaw, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be October 10, 2019 at 9 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
