Claire Y. Desrosiers, 85
Claire Y. Desrosiers (Desruisseau), 85, of North Dartmouth, MA, died on June 8, 2017.
Claire was a stay at home mom for several years, caring for her husband and her children. She made everyone feel welcomed in her home and made it known that there was always room for one more person around the supper table. Oftentimes, she would make up baskets of food and leave it on the front porches of families that were struggling, especially around the holidays.
Her favorite hobby was planning family vacations. Whether it was a cruise or a week at a beach resort, Claire enjoyed having her family together. Her favorite vacation spot was Aruba. Mrs. "D" was a Girl Scout leader of Troop 10 at St. Kilian's Church in New Bedford for several years. She planned several trips to New York City with the scouts. She was often seen with her husband, Albert, at Brooklawn Park watching softball games.
When she returned to the workforce, she started at Knapp Shoe as a bookkeeper. She then worked for several years at the unemployment office in New Bedford. Claire ended her working years with the Town of Fairhaven as a senior clerk with the Water Department.
She is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Albert who passed away on December 24, 2016; her parents, Lorenzo and Flora Desruisseau; her two brothers, Leo and Richard; and her lifelong friend and "sister,” Lucille Lefebvre.
She is survived by her six children, Diane Gauvin and her husband Michael of Salem, NH, Suzanne Dumas and her husband Raymond of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Janine Duarte and her husband Steven of Dartmouth, David Desrosiers and his wife Diane of St. Charles, IL, Jacqueline Longo and her companion Dennis Catterall of Acushnet, and Stephen Desrosiers and his wife Lauren of Dartmouth.
