Coastal Neighbors Network to celebrate virtual villages
The Coastal Neighbors Network will convene on February 13, 5-6 p.m., at Town Hall to celebrate the first virtual village.
The network — a non-profit organization that aims to help Dartmouth residents remain in their homes while staying connected with the community — is fashioned after the first virtual village, the Beacon Hill Village. The network will celebrate the Beacon Hill Village's 15th birthday by streaming a talk by Boston surgeon, writer, and public health researcher Atul Gawande.
The planned celebration will acknowledge the growth of "purposeful aging," the idea that as people age, they can stay involved in their communities, stay safe in their own homes, and stay connected with each other through their area villages.
The group will meet in Room 304 for the live stream. Organizer Kate Fentress asks that guests arrive by 4:45 p.m. The live stream will run for one hour, followed by snack and discussion.
