A Connecticut man was killed in a car crash in Dartmouth after his vehicle rolled over on Route 195 early Wednesday morning, according to the Massachusetts State Police.

Ruben Rivera, 23, of East Haven, Connecticut, was declared dead at the scene by Dartmouth EMS after his 1996 Toyota Corolla rolled over near the Faunce Corner Road exit of I-195 at around 5:18 a.m. on July 8.

According to the press release, a preliminary investigation by State Trooper Orlando Riley indicates that Rivera was speeding in the left travel lane heading eastbound when the car swerved to the right and off the highway about a half mile west of Exit 12.

After entering the woods, the Corolla apparently struck a tree, causing it to roll over. The victim was ejected.

The right travel lane on Route 195 was closed for around two hours.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation with assistance from members of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services, the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
