Council on Aging announces October events
The Dartmouth Council on Aging has released its schedule of events for the month of October.
Arts and Entertainment
The monthly Moving Matinee will feature a screening of the film “Rocketman” on October 17, 1:30 p.m. Sign-up is required, and free popcorn will be served.
Did you miss the Council on Aging’s Yesterday’s Children: Wisdom of Our Elders lunch? The event, which honored a group of Dartmouth residents for their lifelong accomplishments, will be featured at an informal screening of the event on October 9, 1 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
A story teller will recount spooky ghost stories on October 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A fall dessert buffet will also be served. Advance registration required.
Health and Wellness
A weekly “Throw a Punch at Parkinsons” boxing workshop will continue on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Contact the Center for more information.
Bay State Physical Therapy will host a free pain screening on the second Thursday of the month, 1-2 p.m. by appointment.
Katlynn Ferreira, a registered dietician, will offer free private consultations on the second Tuesday of the month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. by appointment.
A free blood pressure clinic will be hosted on the second and last Friday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
A six-part Bereavement Educational Support Group will beet on October 15, and continue through November 19. Advance registration is required. To register, call *508) 324-1900 ext. 128.
A flu clinic will be offered on October 10, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Education
Computer classes focusing on Google products will be held on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome. The cost is $5.
Learn about living wills at a “Five Wishes” presentation on October 23, 1 p.m. Call the Center to pre-register.
The AARP will host a safety classroom course on October 28, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for members, and $20 for non-AARP members. Pre-registration is required.
Food and Parties
The new “Cafe 628” monthly breakfast bar will open for business once again on October 11 at 9 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $4. Pre-registration is required.
