Laura Gardner, co-chair of the local advocacy group Climate Reality Massachusetts Southcoast, will lead a New Bedford Science Cafe talk called "Going Green: Community Electricity Aggregation Programs” on Dec. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at The Last Round Bar and Grille.

Gardner will discuss the importance of Community Electricity Aggregation [CEA] programs, which save residents significant $$ and boost the use of renewable energy. Launched in 2016, Massachusetts’ CEA program is the 2nd largest in the country with 25 towns—including the entire South Coast—which allows towns to buy their electricity in bulk and keep prices stable.

Laura & other climate activists hope that residents will pay more to sign up for a higher percent of renewable energy. Gardner will also touch on other ways households can confront global warming, including electrification options through the Inflation Reduction Act.
