Dartmouth girl dies on Christmas day

Jan 9, 2023

Tragedy struck a Dartmouth family on Christmas day as a 16-year-old girl died from complications of juvenile diabetes on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022.

Hailey K. Housewright, a Dartmouth resident and Dartmouth High student, was an aspiring illustrator with dreams of becoming a tattoo artist, according to her obituary published by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals.

Housewright, the notice said, was a “very talented artist” who loved drawing, painting, crafting, and music.

According to a GoFundMe page set up by Housewright’s aunt to help pay for funeral expenses, Housewright was found unresponsive in her bed before being rushed to Boston and put on life support. She died hours later, the page states.

The fundraiser amassed $7,600, well over its $5,000 goal, with the family promising any leftover money would be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Funeral services were held for Housewright on Jan. 7 with the burial following shortly after.
