Dartmouth Lions Club announces local contests for students
The Dartmouth Lions Club has recently announced its student contests for the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Participants must be a Dartmouth resident and student.
Speech Contest
The first contest is a youth speech contest, titled “Being Politically Correct: Is it taken too far?” All high school students are welcome to participate. The competition starts at the local club or school level and proceeds through several levels of competition, ending several months later with a state wide competition. There are prizes and/or awards for each contestant at every level of the competition. The prizes at the State Competition are $1,500 to the winner and $500 to each runner up. Essay Contest
Visually impaired students, ages 9-11, are encouraged to enter the student essay contest, themed “A Celebration of Peace.”
Art Contest
Students aged 9-11 are welcome to participate in a poster contest themed “A Celebration of Peace.”
Band
The Dartmouth Lions wish to sponsor one student to participate with Mass Lions All State High School Band, which focuses on orchestra and jazz.
