Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust to hold 45th annual meeting of members

May 22, 2016

The Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust (DNRT) will host its 45th Annual Meeting of Members at 7:00pm on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Friends Academy, 1088 Tucker Road in Dartmouth.  The public is invited, and refreshments will be served at a reception starting at 6:30pm.

The Annual Meeting will feature DNRT’s third annual “John Wylde Lecture,” established in honor of former DNRT Board President John Wylde. Guest lecturer, Bartley (“Bart”) B. Nourse, Jr., Ph.D., President of Learning Network Associates, Inc., will talk about invasive bamboo in the Northeast and the growth of this invasive plant species in the region.

Dr. Nourse’s presentation will be preceded by a brief summary of DNRT’s 2015 accomplishments, information about the new DNRT Center at Helfand Farm, update on the DNRT’s Pathways Campaign and election of new Officers and Directors. DNRT will also present its “Joe Frothingham Memorial Award,” which is given periodically to a DNRT member “who most exemplifies Joe's dedication to conservation, love of the outdoors and pure joy in it all.”

DNRT is a non-profit, membership-supported land trust with a mission “To preserve and protect Dartmouth’s natural resources for people and nature, forever.” Over the last 45 years, it has worked in partnership with other conservation organizations, state agencies and the Town of Dartmouth to protect over 5,000 acres of natural areas and farmland in Dartmouth.
