Dartmouth police arrest man on charges of sexually assaulting a minor

Dartmouth police have arrested a New Bedford resident on charges of sexual assault of a minor.

Clyde Souza, 59, of Church Street, New Bedford was arrested and charged for rape of a child on Wednesday, Dec. 23. Souza was formerly a Dartmouth resident, police said.

Following an investigation by Dartmouth Police detectives Sean McGuire and Kyle Costa, Souza was arrested and charged with two counts of rape of a child and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

After booking, Souza was transported to Third District Court in New Bedford where he was arraigned.
