Dartmouth resident turns 103
Happy birthday to Nellie Jackson, and to many more. Jackson turned 103 on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Jackson was born in 1923 in Georgia. She moved around, living in New Jersey before coming to Dartmouth. She worked at Westinghouse Electrical Company for 35 years.
She married George, who she was with until his death in 2021. Jackson has three sons; twins who are in their late 70s and a younger son in his late 50s.
While she couldn’t figure out a specific favorite memory, she enjoyed spending time with her family and watching television. The nurses at the Residences at Cedar Dell stated some of her favorite shows are “The Price is Right” and gospel shows. They describe her as a “sweet woman.”
She spends her days watching television and joking about being the new bus driver for trips.
“I’m just a lady,” Jackson said when asked about her life.
