The crew left Sunday, July 6, for open waters as one of 45 participants in the biennial Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race. Those aboard rotated positions on the ship, taking turns cooking, sleeping, steering, and navigating.
With 11 sailors, including Dartmouth’s Sophie Litos, 18, Peter Herlihy, 18, and Maisy Sperry, 18, they completed the journey in approximately 39.5 hours, placing eighth overall.
The Community Boating Center also won the Academy Cup Trophy and the Commodore J.C. MacKeen Trophy, earned for having the best corrected times in their respective division, as well as sailing the best as an academy.
