Dartmouth teen dies in car accident in Westport
A Dartmouth teen, who has not been identified at this time, was killed Thursday night in a single-car accident.
On Jan. 7 around 11 p.m., Westport police and fire departments responded to the area of 275 Reed Road for a single-car crash. The road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated with the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction unit.
The vehicle, a gray Mercedes, was operated by an 18-year-old Westport resident who was living in Dartmouth. Police said excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The vehicle skidded off the road, sustaining substantial front-end damage as well as damage on the driver’s side. The operator died as a result of the impact.
The investigation is still on-going with the assistance of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
