Dartmouth woman to walk for Alzheimer's awareness

Aug 16, 2016

Monique Pavao of Dartmouth will participate in the Southeastern Massachusetts Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, September 24 at Fort Taber in New Bedford.

This is Pavao's seventh year participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. She is captain of team Georgie's Girls in memory of her mother, Georgette.

“My family and I would like to have a world free of Alzheimer’s," said Pavao. "No family should have to endure what ours did but we know that can’t happen yet, but we are hopeful.”

“We are grateful to each person who makes a commitment to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s by participating, volunteering or making a donation,” said Jim Wessler, president/CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter. “The funds raised will provide support services to people impacted by Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to the research that is critical to putting an end to this disease.”

More than 5 million people in America are living with Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
