David Antunes, 77

David Antunes, 77, of Dartmouth, died Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
 
He was the husband of Lynne M. (Murphy) Antunes with whom he shared 41 years of marriage and son of the late Peter J. and Mary (Xavier) Antunes.
 
Born in Providence, RI, he resided in Dartmouth for most of his life.
 
Mr. Antunes was a U.S. Air Force veteran attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
 
His many decorations include the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster,  Air Force Medal and Air Force Longevity Service Award with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of the Cape Verdean Veterans.
 
Mr. Antunes was a self-employed musician, D.J. and sound engineer and was the proprietor of DASCO.
 
Music was his passion and over the years, he hosted sing-a-longs for seniors and provided entertainment at the Dartmouth Council On Aging as well as area nursing and assisted living facilities including The Cedars in Dartmouth.
 
Mr. Antunes was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, enjoyed fishing and watching boxing matches.
 
His family includes his wife, Lynne M. Antunes of Dartmouth; two sons, Troy Antunes of London, U.K. and Peter Antunes and his wife, Lorain Mangaliman of Los Angeles, California; one daughter, Meredith Santoro and her husband, Michael of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers, Michael Antunes of Cape Cod and Xavier "Coogie" Antunes and his wife, Stella of New Haven, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Jordyn Antunes, Devyn Antunes and Reece Antunes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
He was the brother of the late Jack Antunes.

Visiting hours in the funeral home Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. Military honors will be conducted during visitation.
