A day for Dartmouth delights
For many years, the Allendale Country Club hosted Dartmouth Day, but because of covid, they stopped hosting the event.
Last year, the club brought Dartmouth Day back and on Saturday, Oct. 12, it returned for a second year.
There was a bouncy house, face painting and the radio station Fun 107 tuned in. There were yard games and Dartmouth Fire District 1 was also there, according to Samantha Lawson, the country club’s general manager.
“We try to bring fun here so people can see what we’re all about,” Lawson said.
The Country Club chose to call the event Dartmouth Day because they wanted to honor the community that they’re a part of, she added.
“We wanted to enjoy the fresh air and fall activities and be together on the weekend,” said Dartmouth resident Llewelyn Silva.
Silva’s children had their faces painted, went on the bouncy house and played the yard games.
This was the first time Silva and her family went to Dartmouth Day, but she said they would “definitely” go again next year.
“We want to do a lot with the community, so it’s open to everyone,” Lawson said. “We’re here, we’re local.”
After her friend showed her a flier advertising Dartmouth Day, Adelina Flees decided to bring her son to “check out” the fire trucks and police cars, Flees said.
Flees’ son had his face painted, went jumping in the bouncy house, and had just sat down to have their meal, she said.
“He’s been running around and just enjoying himself,” Flees said. “It’s been relaxing.”
