Denise C. Lavely-O'Hara, 64

Denise C. Lavely-O'Hara, age 64 of South Dartmouth, passed away on Friday, December 9, at home while surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband James D. O'Hara, to whom she had been married for 33 years.

Born in Andover, a daughter of the late Arthur B. and Barbara (Kenney) Lavely, she had been a long time South Dartmouth resident. She was a graduate of Andover High School, class of 1970, attended Fisher College in Boston and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she received her Bachelor of Science as a Psychology major.

Denise was formerly employed as an Account Executive at Cuneo, Sullivan and Turner Advertising, Brown University, and prior to her retirement in 2012, she served as the Administrative Director of the Residency Program at Rhode Island Hospital for 20 years.

Denise loved spending time with her family, walking on the beach, cooking, gardening, yoga, Zumba, and trips to Maine and Martha's Vineyard, as well as many other traveling destinations over the years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Emily R. O'Hara and her husband Luke W. Vietas of Melrose; a son, Zachary J. O'Hara of Dartmouth; one sister, Debra Swan of Indiana; a grandson, James F. Vietas; a nephew, Eric Swan; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on December 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road. Visiting hours will be held prior, 8:30-10:30 a.m. Burial is private. Relatives and friends invited.
