Discover owls at upcoming Owl Prowls
Mass Audubon’s Allens Pond Wildlife Sanctuary will have several opportunities for owl fans to see the birds up close and personal at upcoming Owl Prowls.
The first Owl Prowl will be on October 21, 6-8 p.m. The event will include an evening hike on Mass Audubon’s trails, through woodlands and grasslands in search of owls. Those attending are asked to dress for an outdoor hike and bring binoculars. Staff will have binoculars on hand to provide for those who do not own any.
The hike leaves from the Allens Neck trailhead, located on Allens Neck Road.
A second Owl Prowl will be held to coincide with a full moon on November 4, 6-8 p.m. at Mass Audubon’s Stone Barn Farm property. The event will include searches for owls with calls and education on the birds.
Stone Barn Farm is located at 786 Horseneck Road.
A third Owl Prowl will be held on December 2, 4-6 p.m. at the sanctuary’s 1280 Horseneck Road property. Those attending are asked to dress for an outdoor twilight walk.
