Dispose of hazardous waste at upcoming disposal event

That container of toxic waste that is in the corner of the garage? Now is the time to get rid of it.

The Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management district is holding a household hazardous waste drop-off day for Dartmouth, New Bedford and Freetown residents. 

The event is happening from 8:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Crapo Hill Landfill, located at 300 Samuel Barnet Boulevard in New Bedford. Entry is at the New Bedford Business Park.

Preregistration is required, and can be done at https://gnbrrmdistrict.org/ or by calling 508-979-1493. Proof of residence of Dartmouth, New Bedford or Freetown is required.

The management district will be accepting oil based paints, paint thinner, pesticides, old gasoline, wood preservatives, objects containing aerosols and more that are listed at https://gnbrrmdistrict.org/hazardous-waste/. A maximum of 25 gallons or 50 pounds of waste will be accepted.

Latex paint, fluorescent light bulbs, motor oil, antifreeze or empty containers are not accepted. The management asks that people dry out latex paint and throw it out with the regular trash.
