District 3 seeks call firefighters
Interested in becoming a firefighter? Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 is now accepting applications for call firefighter positions.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and must live within District 3 boundaries or close proximity. Fire District No. 3 serves the northern portion of town, from the town’s northern borders to Allen Street south of Route 6
Individuals chosen will have to attend the Massachusetts Call/Volunteer Fire Academy, which requires a commitment of two nights a week and Saturdays.
This year’s academy tentative starts date will be July 21.
The academy consists of classroom time, work with ladders, self-contained breathing apparatus, interior fire attack, vehicle extraction, first responder training, and other skills.
Those who complete the program and maintain an average of 70 percent or greater can become Firefighter I and II certified.
Applications can be picked up at District 3’s headquarters, located at 140 Cross Road, during normal business hours (Monday through Friday: 8: am to 2:30 pm.)
