District No. 3 residents approve $3M fire department budget
With little input, voters approved Fire District No. 3’s 2018 fiscal year budget at its May 1 Annual Meeting.
The $3.02 million budget is down about $175,000 from last year’s $3.2 million budget. District clerk and treasurer Joan Brennan explained this year’s budget requests less for capital projects due to the completion of major projects last year.
Included in the 2018 budget is $91,772 in capital improvement items, including a new hose and nozzles for the district’s new fire engine, a fire gear dryer, new thermal cameras, and portable radios for fire vehicles and personnel.
Also included in the budget is $1.15 million for personnel compensation, $152,000 for expenses such as fire equipment, uniforms, fire prevention and investigation, and vehicle repair, and $1.4 million toward bond payments, employment and retirement benefits, and building costs.
