Dog park, recreational facilities closed

Mar 20, 2020

Due to the coronavirus, Dartmouth’s Parks and Recreation Department is closing the Dartmouth dog park and all playgrounds as well as suspending all ball field and park usage permits until further notice.

All town courts and fields are also closed effective immediately, and recreational programming is postponed until further notice.

The department announced the closures in a statement posted online.

According to the statement, park and beach access will stay open for “passive recreational purposes,” and the department urged everyone using their facilities to “practice appropriate social distancing” by staying at least six feet away from others.

“All requests for cemetery services such as grave openings should be done via our voice mail system at 508-910-1812,” the statement read.

The department is still accepting applications for summer employment, which can be mailed or deposited in the drop box located in front of town hall. Those dropping off applications are asked to clearly mark them “Attention DPR”.

The Parks and Recreation office is currently closed to the public.
