Dorothy Yates, 92, of Dartmouth passed away on Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.

She had been the beloved wife of the late Norman W. Yates.

Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island, she was the beloved daughter of the late Robert Halliday and Margaret (Winter) Halliday. Dorothy had been a loving homemaker to her family throughout the years.

Dorothy is survived by her five children, Donna Leary and her husband Mark, Norman Yates, David Yates and his wife Susan, William Yates and John Yates and his wife Carol; six grandchildren, Sandra Cotton, Mark Leary Jr., Robert Leary, David Yates Jr., Kristin Yates Taylor and Amanda Yates; eight great-grandchildren and her sister, Barbara Pontes of Florida as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Robert R. Halliday and Susan Walter.

Dorothy’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec.19, 2020 at Perry Funeral Home from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can kindly be made in Dorothy’s memory to the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home at 200 Hawthorn Street, New Bedford, MA 02740 or to the Alzheimer and Parkinson Association of Indian River County at 2300 5th Avenue #150, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
