Fire District 1 responded to a single-car car crash on the corner of Bakerville Road and Beechwood Drive at 5 a.m. on Sunday, April 6.

The driver, 24-year-old Jake Morgado of Dartmouth, crashed into a stone wall, striking and knocking down a utility pole. Morgado didn’t appear injured and wasn’t taken to the hospital, said District 1 Fire Chief Peter Andrade.

“He got out of the vehicle on his own and was waiting for the first responders,” he said.

While on scene, Morgado admitted to Dartmouth Police officers that he was intoxicated and was later taken into custody. Morgado is being charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.
