Edward Stanley, 67

Edward R. Stanley, 67, of East Bridgewater, passed away on August 1 at New England Sinai Hospital surrounded by his family and his childhood friends.

He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Rubino Ashmont) Stanley for 17 years. His grandmother, Ella "Bunny" (Stowell) Chaput, RN was his mother's nurse midwife, and he was born in his grandmother's home in Haverhill, Massachusetts on August 4, 1949.

Ed was raised and educated in the Avon-Brockton area. He was the son of James R. McCorkle, Sr. and Barbara (Chaput Stanley) McCorkle, formerly of Lakeville, now of Rotonda West, Florida, and the late Edward T. Stanley.

Ed was a commercial truck driver, and retired from the Avon-based Ipc Lydon. He loved golfing, playing pool, and best of all being with his grandchildren.

In addition to being husband to his beloved wife Sandra, he was the loving father of Sarah (Stanley) Davis of Middleboro and Ryan Stanley of Mashpee; stepfather to William (Karen Doyle) Ashmont of Marshfield, and Wendy (Ryan) Cavicchi of Kingston, Mass.

Ed was predeceased by four of his six brothers, James R. Stanley, Joseph S. Stanley, Raymond T. Stanley, and Michael J. McCorkle.

He is survived by his brothers, Russell R. (Ruth Ann Martin) Stanley of South Dartmouth and James R. (Michele Grieco Wind) McCorkle Jr. of Stoughton; his sisters-in-law, Karen (James) Solomita Stanley of Avon, Patricia (Joseph) Carbone Stanley of Chandler, Arizona, Christine (Raymond) Leazott Stanley of Norton, Mass.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Rubino of Middleboro, Mass.; and his former wife and mother of his children Elizabeth Carbone Stanley of Middleboro, Mass.

Ed was a wonderful grandfather to his seven loving grandchildren, Isabella Davis, Sofia Davis, Hannah Pike, Chloe Ashmont, Jessica Ashmont, Cameron Cavicchi, and Brandon Cavicchi. He leaves behind many lovingly, cherished memories with aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, and good friends.

Visiting hours were held on August 4, with a memorial service that followed at Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Plymouth Street in Whitman. Donations may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Center in his memory.
