Fall River man charged with beating child in Dartmouth

A Fall River man has been charged with beating and assaulting a four year old in Dartmouth, according to Dartmouth Police.
On Dec. 2, Dartmouth police responded to a disturbance reported at Ledgewood Boulevard. The disturbance was called in by an anonymous neighbor.
Police determined that Richard Pinheiro, 28, of Everett Street, Fall River had assaulted a 4-year-old child whom he was babysitting.
Pinheiro was arrested and charged with assault and battery with injury on a child under the age of 14. Police said the child was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital and has since been released.
Pinheiro is currently being held without bail at the Bristol County House of Corrections in Dartmouth.
The lead investigator on the case is Detective Sean McGuire.
