National insurance agency Alera Group announced last week that it has acquired North Dartmouth insurer Sylvia Group effective December 31, 2019.

Located at 500 Faunce Corner Road, Sylvia Group has provided non-profit organizations, startups, and other clients throughout New England with solutions in personal insurance, business insurance, employee benefits and financial planning since its founding in 1950.

All Sylvia Group employees will continue operating out of the firm’s existing location under the name Sylvia Group, an Alera Group Company, LLC. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Deerfield, IL, Alera Group is one of the 20 largest independent insurance agencies in the country. Alera Group employs more than 1,800 people and serves thousands of clients nationally in employee benefits, property and casualty insurance, retirement services and wealth management.
