Fire District annual elections, April 24
The annual elections for all three fire districts are on April 24. Polls will be open, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., at the respective locations. Voters will be asked to fill vacancies on the Prudential Committees — the three-person committee that oversees each district's finances.
In District No. 1, John Haran will run to keep his position on the Prudential Committee. Challenger Joann Avila is also running for the three-year term.
On Wednesday, May 10, 6:30 p.m., voters will be asked to approve District No. 1's 2018 budget. See attached for District No. 1's warrant.
On District No. 2's agenda, voters will be asked to write in a name for a three-year, Prudential Committee vacancy, as no candidates filed.
On Tuesday, May 9, 7 p.m., voters will be asked to approve District No. 2's 2018 budget. See attached for District No. 2's warrant.
District No. 3 has two openings: a three-year term and a two-year term on the Prudential Committee.
Michael Ricardo, of Chase Road, is running for the three-year term. Current committee member Terrance Pimental, of Old Westport Road, is running for the two-year term. Pimental was appointed to the seat last summer to fill the vacancy.
On Monday, May 1, 7 p.m., voters will be asked to approve District No. 3's 2018 budget. See attached for District No. 3's warrant.
Fire District No. 1 is located at 10 Bridge Street. Fire District No. 2 is located at 1100 Russells Mills Road. Fire District No. 3 is located at 140 Cross Road. Candidates must live in the district of the department they intend to serve.
