Fire District No. 3 seeking call firefighters

Dartmouth Fire District No. 3 is now excepting application for call firefighter positions. Applications can be picked up at its headquarters, located at 140 Cross Road.

All applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license, and live within District No. 3 or close proximity to it. Applications will need to be submitted by August 31.

Selected individuals will attend a fire academy consisting of two nights each week and Saturdays. The academy training starts around early March and ends in late June. The academy consists of class room time, working with ladders, self-contained breathing apparatus, interior fire attack, vehicle extrication, and first responder skills.

Participants much maintain a 70-percent grade average in the academy, and will become Firefighter I & II certified upon completion. Upon graduation, call firefighters will respond to fire calls when available. All call firefighters are compensated per hour for every call they attend.

Every Wednesday night, the station hosts meetings, training sessions, and equipment checks, which firefighters are expected to attend.
