Friends Academy to host education workshops

Sep 11, 2017

As part of Friends Academy’s Encompass Community for Independent Learning program, the school will host workshops on hands-on education beginning in October.

The Multiple Intelligences Workshops will detail how to use a hands-on and immersive approach to teaching and reframing academic material. Events serve as personal and professional development experience for any interested persons, especially teachers, parents, college students, or anyone who works with children.

The program will explore education in areas including art, dance, music, storytelling, nature, technology and the written word. Guest artists from the Zeiterion Theater, Cape Cod African Dance and Drum, and Dartmouth Natural Resources trust will participate.

The cost to attend a single workshop is $250. A discount is available to attend all six. Breakfast and lunch will be served. A professional development certificate of attendance is available.

The first workshop on visual and linguistic learning will be held on October 28. On January 27, 2018, a workshop on kinesthetic and auditory learning will be held. March 10, 2018’s workshop topic is intra- and inter-personal learning. On May 19, 2018 the topic will be naturalistic learning. On October 27, 2018, the topic of logical and math learning will be discussed, and on January 26, 2019 the workshop will center on existential intelligence.
