Friends Academy speaker series discusses technology, safety for kids
Parents often worry about the impact that technology has on children and how to set limits on screen time. Dr. Catherine Steiner-Adair joined parents at Friends Academy to address those concerns.
Steiner-Adair, author of “The Big Disconnect: Protecting Childhood and Family Relationships in the Digital Age,” finished off Friends Academy's speaker series on Wednesday, March 30. It was the second in a two-part speaker series focused on the health and wellness of children.
A leading expert specializing in child development, education, family relationships, and workplace/family balance, Steiner-Adair speaks and consults on a wide range of topics, including social and emotional literacy and nourishing healthy relationships in the digital age.
During the hour and a half-long talk, Dr. Steiner-Adair discussed ways in which technology and media change how children learn and grow. She also spoke to parents about how to balance the benefits of technology while reducing the risks it poses at every stage of development.
The event closed with a Q&A portion where parents had the opportunity to air out some of their other technology-related concerns.
