Gardner P. Brayton Sr., 91

Gardner P. Brayton Sr., 91, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family within his childhood home on March 4, 2019. He was the husband of the late Irene R. (Taylor) Brayton.

Born and raised in Dartmouth, Mass., he was the son of the late Alden and Florence (Potter) Brayton; nephew of the late Honorable George H. Potter. He was the brother to the late Ruth B. Waite Howes and Beatrice Gallop along with the uncle to the late Christine Gallop.

Known as G.B. to all, he was employed by Finest Fence, Harold S. Bosworth and Wamsutta Club until his retirement.

Enjoying his retirement, many people would recognize G.B. around town with his baby blues, nice smile and Dickie greens driving his Peugeot.

G.B. was involved in many community organizations including cub scout master and member of the Noquochoke Masonic Hall. He was also a ranking captain of Dartmouth Fire District No. 2 under the chiefs Raymond F. Davoll and Allen Manley.

Gardner is survived by his three sons: Gardner P. Brayton Jr. and his wife LouAnn of Dartmouth, Curtis A. Brayton of ME and Tim B. Pimental of Westport; one daughter: Debra A. Gautesen and her husband Thomas of ME; nine grandchildren: Nathan and his wife Sarah, Kendrin and her husband Mike, James and his girlfriend Jessica, Juila, Rita, Kristi and her husband Josh, Megan and her husband Mark, Kaylee and her husband Stephen and Karysa; 14 Great-Grandchildren Gabby, Jaedyn, Alexis, James, Ella, Kadence, Bryson, Billy, Cole, Ali, Ava, Audrey, Drew and Stephen; four nieces and four nephews.

The family would like to thank Maria Bothelo, Jessica Dubreuil and Makenzie Poirier and a special thanks to his granddaughter Kaylee and her husband Steve for their outstanding care allowing Mr. Brayton to live out his life at home.

Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be Friday, from 9:30-11:00 A.M., prior to the service.

Interment to follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
