Gingerbread houses and carols at the Senior Center

Dec 17, 2019

Dartmouth seniors and children broke out the frosting and gingerbread during a special intergenerational holiday event at the Senior Center.

On December 17, preschoolers from Cushman Elementary School stopped by the Senior Center to host a holiday-themed concert. Decked out in lights and Santa hats, the kids performed for a crowd of people inside the Center’s activity room.

“We just love having them come over, and it always puts a smile on everyone’s faces,” said Council on Aging Director Amy DiPietro.

It is an annual event, but this year teachers Lindsey Sousa and Linda DeCouto decided to change it up with a gingerbread house decorating event too.

“This year we decided to do a craft so they can interact more with all of the people here,” Sousa said.

Kids and adults alike tested out their decorating skills, including attendee Carol Louro.

“I did well because they taught me,” Louro said. “I saw how they did it.”
