Hannoush Jewelers to leave Dartmouth Mall location
All good things must come to an end.
After more than 23 successful years at the North Dartmouth Mall, Hannoush Jewelers will be relocating to a new location just up the road on Route 6 on a space located between Brandt Avenue and Greystone Avenue.
According to owner Louis Silva, the business needs more space to meet its customers’ needs, prompting him to seek out a new location. Trees were recently cut down at the 3.5 acre site, and Silva said there will be other retail locations available for rent once the buildings are constructed.
Hannoush is a family-owned business specializing in engagement rings, diamond necklaces and more. Although Silva said they've been happy as mall tenants, he’s been trying to get some bigger name companies into the location to no avail.
“For years, I’ve been trying to get Rolex, Breitling,” he said. “They won’t come into a small mall setting. You have to leave the mall in order to attract those retailers.”
Silva said he had his sights set on the property for some time. He said there are still a few more hurdles to clear in relation to permitting and regulatory processes, but he’s hoping construction can commence as early as mid-to-late June.
“We’ve really been wanting to service our customers a lot better. We have thousands of customers — we need the extra space. So we decided to do something on our own.”
There will be 14,000 square feet of additional retail space aside from the Hannoush location, with drive-up access to be available at at least one of the units.
Silva said the new showroom will be twice the size of the current mall location, and there will be plenty of parking to accommodate customers.
“There will be more room for jewelers, more room for a sitting area,” he said. “I think it’s going to be a real improvement for the town. We’ll add some jobs to the area.”
Despite rumors of potential tenants, Silva said no agreements have been made official.
“We’ve had a lot of interest,” he said.
